The only problem I found was the new website was located on a different server. Now the new site did have the same &lt;domain.com&gt; extension on it as the\u00a0old one but just a different prefix.<\/p>\n<p>Below is how\u00a0I did this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Export on IIS6<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the Start menu, select &#8220;Run&#8221; and type mmc.<\/li>\n<li>Choose Add\/Remove Snap-in under the File menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click Add, then Certificates, then Add.<\/li>\n<li>Go to Computer Account, then Next, then Local Computer, then Finish.<\/li>\n<li>Close the Add Standalone Snap-In window and the Add\/Remove Snap-in window.<\/li>\n<li>Click the + to Expand the Certificates (Local Computer) Console Tree, look for the Personal directory\/folder and expand Certificates.<\/li>\n<li>Right Click on the Certificate you would like to backup and choose &gt; ALL TASKS &gt; Export, follow the Certificate Export Wizard to backup your certificate to a .pfx file<\/li>\n<li>Choose to &#8216;Yes, export the private key&#8217; and to include all certificates in certificate path if possible (do NOT select the delete Private Key option).<\/li>\n<li>Leave default settings &gt; Enter Password (if required)<\/li>\n<li>Choose to save file on a set location, then Finish.<\/li>\n<li>You will receive a message &gt; Export Successful<\/li>\n<li>The .pfx file backup is now saved in the location you selected.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Import On IIS 6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Step 1 &#8211; Install Certificate on Computer for use<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the Start menu, select &#8220;Run&#8221; and type mmc.<\/li>\n<li>Choose Add\/Remove Snap-in under the File menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click Add, then Certificates, then Add.<\/li>\n<li>Go to Computer Account, then Next, then Local Computer, then Finish.<\/li>\n<li>Close the Add Standalone Snap-In window and the Add\/Remove Snap-in window.<\/li>\n<li>Click the + to Expand the Certificates (Local Computer) Console Tree, look for the Personal directory\/folder and expand Certificates.<\/li>\n<li>Right Click the blank space by the currently install certificates and select All Tasks &#8211;&gt;\u00a0Import<\/li>\n<li>Follow instructions<\/li>\n<li>Select Next<\/li>\n<li>Browse to where the PFX is located<\/li>\n<li>Select finish<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><em>Step 2 &#8211; apply cert to site<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start IIS Manager<\/li>\n<li>Expand IIS Manager &#8211;&gt; Server &#8211;&gt; Web Sites &#8211;&gt;\u00a0to the site you want apply certificate<\/li>\n<li>Right click and select Properties<\/li>\n<li>Select Directory Security Tab<\/li>\n<li>Select Server Certificate button<\/li>\n<li>Select Next<\/li>\n<li>Select Replace certificate<\/li>\n<li>Select Next<\/li>\n<li>Select new certificate<\/li>\n<li>Select next and finish<\/li>\n<li>Click OK to save properties<\/li>\n<li>Test Site<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Import if you are using IIS 7<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the Start menu, select &#8220;Run&#8221; and type mmc.<\/li>\n<li>Choose Add\/Remove Snap-in under the File menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click Add, then Certificates, then Add.<\/li>\n<li>Go to Computer Account, then Next, then Local Computer, then Finish.<\/li>\n<li>Close the Add Standalone Snap-In window and the Add\/Remove Snap-in window.<\/li>\n<li>Click the + to Expand the Certificates (Local Computer) Console Tree, look for the Personal directory\/folder and expand Certificates.<\/li>\n<li>Right Click the blank space by the currently install certificates and select All Tasks &#8211;&gt;\u00a0Import<\/li>\n<li>Follow instructions<\/li>\n<ol>\n<li>Select Next<\/li>\n<li>Browse to where the PFX is located<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li>Once certificate is installed Edit Bindings for the site<\/li>\n<li>Apply certificate to your Site or Add new 443 if not already added.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I needed to take a wildcard certificate that was already installed on a website and apply that to another website.
